## Bissan Edwan
Bissan Edwan is a Palestinian journalist, writer, publisher, and activist, known for her work in publishing and advocating for human rights, particularly Palestinian rights, and the experience of exile.
### Early Life and Background
* Bissan Edwan was born in Libya to Palestinian parents. On September 7, 1975, she spent her childhood in Lebanon and then moved with her family to Egypt in 1984, where she spent most of her life until 2020.
* She earned a BA in History and Civilization from Al-Azhar University in Cairo.
### Professional Experience and Activities
* She is the founder of the independent publishing house "Ibn Rushd."
* She worked as an independent researcher at the Al Ahram Centre for Strategic Studies from 2000 to 2007.
* She subsequently wrote for several Egyptian periodicals, including Al-Hilal Magazine, Al-Badil Newspaper (2006-2008), and Al-Shorouk Newspaper (2008-2009).
* She worked as a correspondent for Ma’an News Agency in Cairo from 2009 to 2010.
### Exile and Move to Turkey and Sweden
* In 2020, she was deported from Egypt to Turkey due to her public criticism of the Egyptian authorities' treatment of Palestinian refugees, as well as her political positions.
* She lived in Turkey after deportation until the end of December 2024.
* In December 2024, she moved to Sweden, where she began an ICORN writers' residency in Lund to pursue her professional activities.
